Everything Funny

I have been noticing funny things happening all around me lately. The unfortunate thing is that they make me laugh but they leave my mind so quickly. I decided to change that by posting "Everything Funny" every once in a while. Here goes...

Picture this:

I am standing at the book check out station at the library helping Charlie scan his books. Theron is standing beside me gazing into Burke's eyes (as usual) while Burke sits quietly in his stroller. A man walks by me. He says, "Birth Control," as he casually passes us by. Could he possibly be talking to me? There is no one else around. He is not accompanied by anyone else and does not appear to be talking on his cell phone. "Really??" I keep thinking. I could understand a comment like that on many other days when my kids are acting unruly and I seem to be completely out of control but..."Really??" He leaves the library, never looking back at me.

It is possible I misunderstood the events of the situation. Still, I couldn't keep from laughing. "Really??" Should I have shouted after him, "Actually, Sir, I have four!"

Well, Mr. Birth Control, just in case you have found my blog, I am well aware of several forms of birth control. I am also very well aware of how amazing our four boys are and how empty my life would be without them compared to now, and I wouldn't do it differently.

What is so extreme with having 3 boys(that he saw)? People have 3 kids all the time. Now, if you were at the library with 10 kids, then maybe yes, his comment would be valid, but 3? He needs to take a MYOB pill.
Okay, stepping off my soap box now.

Wow. That's unbelievable....and terribly rude!

That guy is lucky he didn't make that comment to me. Actually, my wife is lucky he didn't make that comment to me. I would have surely embarrassed her as I followed him out of the library making casual (loud) comments like, "rude", "jerk", "mind your own business", "get a life", "show some respect".

even if you had 10 kids, that comment was completely unwarranted...so sad, yet not surprising in our society!

I could understand if your kids were ugly, but with the handsome boys you have it would be a tragedy if you didn't have 4 more.

I can't believe how so many people think they have the right to comment on how others live their lives! Your kids are wonderful and are lucky to have such great parents. I can't imagine not having all three of mine, and there are times when I wish we would have considered having one more! (Usually fleeting, but still) What a jerk!

That is hilarious. I love comments like that. Why is it that once you have kids, people can say things that would otherwise be taboo? I'm glad you can laugh about; I'll be laughing about it all day, too!

Here's what really happened: He was jealous, and cursing birth control under his breath, much like Seinfeld always curses Newman. Can you blame him? He sees your lovely children and the happy life he's missing out on. He's beside himself, tongue-tied, and "Birth Control!" is all that will come out. Poor wretch.

Maybe he had come to the library to check out some books and stuff about birth control. And just happened to say it out loud. I hate when people make off comments to me (on any subject) and I don't say something back. The good come backs always come later while I'm in bed or driving the car.

You should've told him you were very well aware of several forms of birth control, but alas you are allergic to them all and when or if you partake of those forms boys pop out instead of hives. ;)

I have 4 kids also, and get these mean comments a lot. Ummm, yeah, I use birth control - it's called Allowing God to Control the Births. Hopefully our witnesses will open up other's minds. As Mother Teresa said "How can you say their are too many children? That's like saying their are too many flowers."
Great blog by the way!! I LOVE the things your kids have said on the sidebar :)

Amen seriously I mean why would someone 4 handsome devils that are quite obviously going to be famous someday wether its for Isaacs stand up comedy or Therons charm one way or the other that must be terrible! As usual I love the cute pic of the boys and once again think we McGees make beautiful babes!

People are weird. My mom got a lot of comments about "birth control" when she was pregnant with me (No. 4). It really got to her, and I think consequently to me. I'm glad you realized how dumb such comments are. Your family is awesome, and your boys are so cute that I wouldn't mind Charlie wanting to date Sophia in like 20 years :).

People say random/rude things to me so I tell Matt and he wants to know why he can never be with me when things like that happen. Your boys are adorable. I hope I have all boys just like you! I'm well on my way. :)
