Mulchy Boys

I'm sure every family has a picture like this at this time of year. I couldn't help but be reminded of dirty summer feet when I looked back at this picture. It seems far too many summer nights we are finally getting the boys into bed long after bedtime and without a bath. Though the thought of dirty boys in clean sheets makes me crinkle my nose I can not bear to put them to bed with dirty feet. I long for the day when I can insist that they wash up before they come to dinner (or at least before they go to bed) and it doesn't involve an hour of my time. Then again, just writing that makes me long for them to just stay little.

Our friend Dixie treats us right. We had her over for dinner and she offered to make dessert. She saved us from more of the same ol' thing...brownies from an Aldi brownie mix. Although these brownies are our favorite there was something a little more special about the strawberries fanned out across the top of this poke cake.

"Knock, Knock!"

The other day I heard a "knock, knock" on the back sliding glass door. When I opened it I found standing before me Prince Charming Jr. with not just a glass of water, but a beautiful boquet of flowers. Isn't he dreamy?

Role Play

Charlie likes penguins. I don't really know why. He has a penguin shirt, we have a book or two about penguins, he recently convinced one of his nursery teachers at church to draw him a penguin. This photo is supposed to be proof of his obsession. When I asked him what he was doing with his knees in his shirt he said, "I'm a penguin, " as he waddled around on the kitchen floor. But somehow, as he was waddling away from me I couldn't help but think...Baboon...

Pets

Who needs a dog? We've got a Burke. He grinds his teeth on any wood he can get his mouth on.
